The Arson Dog program was cut soon after the investigators filed a suit against Allegheny County for overtime pay. This may or may not have anything to do with the program being discontinued, but it just seems unusual. We need to get this program reinstated so we can save lives.

A special Thank You to Bernadette and the Rapp Funeral Home for a great day at the Firemens Appreciation Day for the Penn Hills and Verona Volunteer Fire Departments. Even with the rain the event was a great success, see you all next year. Thanks to everyone on the committee who helped bring it all together.
The Tower Crew spent a few hours at the Allegheny Twp Fire Department 1st Annual Car Cruise tonight. Thanks to Matt Rearick event organizer and the fellow brother and sister firefighters from Allegheny Twp St. 99 and Markle St. 101 for the invite. Hopefully you all enjoyed the Tower Rides. This was there first car cruise and they had a great turnout of vehicles including several Fire Department vehicles from the area.
Last month the Department purchased a Ford F250 from Car Connection in New Castle to replace the Service Truck we sold to New Beaver Boro Fire Department. The new vehicle will serve as 221 Utility. Shortly after purchase the vehicle was taken to Twilight Automotive in Oakmont for a Tune Up, some minor body work, reflective striping and emergecny lights. Today the vehicle was picked up and placed into active service. We would like to thank Patricia from Car Connection for all her help and being the best saleswoman we could ask for, and Dave and all his employees at Twilight Auto who got everything completed.
Thanks to the 2012 PA Fire Commissioners Grant program the 221 House was able to purchase a Genesis C365 Hydraulic Cutter and S49XL Hydraulic Spreader. These tools are a great addition to our already purchased 16c Brute Combi Tool, Hand Vario, 15/30 Ram, Air Bag Kit, Kodiak Struts, and Electric & Gas Pumps. There is only 1 more step left for 221 Squad to finalizing the PA Dept of Health Rescue Certification, and that is State Inspection. We would like to thanks Anthony Fleming of Howell Rescue Systems for delivering quality rescue tools and service.
